Upgrading to double-pane insulated glass increased the original thickness from 1 5/8″ to 2 1/4″, improving energy efficiency without compromising the building’s historic façade. This required a full redesign of the window sashes and frames to maintain both structural integrity and visual accuracy. The result is a building with updated windows that look original from both inside and out but meet today’s performance standards.
Stanton Millworks used its specialized machinery, including a 5-head moulder, and time-honored craftsmanship to deliver exacting millwork and trim, all finished using high-performance coatings and an all-wood construction approach. The result is a product that, with routine maintenance, will last another 50+ years.
By combining precision, craftsmanship, and technical innovation, Trade31 and Stanton Millworks preserved one of Vanderbilt’s most historic buildings—ensuring it remains both beautiful and functional for generations to come.
